Officers of the Transport police needed an hour in all to get to one of the islands in front of the village of Oktemtsy. The distress signal was received by the police control room of the North-East Local Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on transport on the 3rd of April.

As it turned out, three residents of Yakutsk went for a ride on the ice, which was off limits. The men went on the snowmobile «Buran» and at some time the ice easily fractured under the weight of the snowmobile, loaded with trailer. Fortunately, people managed to run aside and got to one of the islands. The snowmobile and the freight completely disappeared under the water.

The officers actively respond to the alarm and immediately launched the hovercraft on the ice. The hovercraft was handled by Alexey Makarov, the first sergeant of the police, one of the experienced officers of the Transport police, the longtime driver of small vessels. Andrey Alexeev, the sergeant of the police, the officer of the Patrol-Guard Service of the Transport police, assisted him to save the people.

Currently, the waftage is closed on all waterways in Yakutia. The ice becomes acicular, its structure dislocates, and that makes ice to destroy. Any of its part can be easily fractured, what causes a real danger to life and falling of the vehicles under the ice. It’s absolutely forbidden to go on the ice off limits. Don’t venture your life and the lives of passengers!
