6th Children of Asia Games: Sports hall Modun is being repaired

Two months left before 6th Children of Asia International Sports Games start in Yakutsk. Sports halls are being actively repaired before young participants arrive there. YSIA visited sports hall Modun, which will be opened for athletes in July.

The previous Children of Asia Games 2012 the competitions in draughts, taekwondo, mas-wrestling and powerlifting have already been held in sports hall Modun. That time a common gambling hall and a jumping hall were opened.

This year Ministry of Sports has funded 5 million roubles to repair sports hall Modun and has set a deadline until June, 15. According to Ivan Borisov, the sports hall’s deputy director, main preparatory measures are taken.

«We started to repair our sports hall in April; we replaced all the lighting and wiring system, installed video control system by this time. The main problem referred to sanitary facilities: we replaced off-to-date shower rooms with new bathroom and lavatory equipment with new shower mixers and plastic pipes included. We painted walls in dressing rooms too», – Ivan Borisov told.

In the halls which were built 4 years ago the competitions in ping pong and mas-wrestling will be held this year. New sports equipment should be delivered by the end of June.

«I guess our visitors are receptive to the closing of halls, as they will be able to use new equipment when Children of Asia Games finish. The essential thing is to keep new equipment and devices in working order», – Ivan Borisov concluded.
