Russian poet and writer Evgeny Evtushenko has become the holder of the “Polar star” order. One of the top Yakutia’s awards was presented by the head of the republic Egor Borisov before the evening in the State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
«We are glad to take such a legendary person who loves Yakutia so much and initiated a new epoch in poetry. It’s so pleasant so see Evgeny Evtushenko again», – Egor Borisov highlighted in his welcome speech that the poet always treats the republic as something extraordinary. First he came here 50 years ago, visited almost all its corners and always paid attention to the men who live and work in rough environments. His poems about Yakutia is the tribute to those who conquers severe nature of North and boost regional economy.
Evgeny Evtushenko presented here 4 toms of the corpus of Russian poetry “Russian Poet is more than just a Poet” having been devoted to it as much as 40 years. In the first part of his performance he read poems of Russian and Soviet poets and his own; the secont part was devoted to popular request.
