Israel’s quilt: Rahel Elran exhibited her art in Yakutsk

The exhibition of the Israel’s quilt artist Rahel Elran was first opened in Yakutsk. The ceremonial opening was held at the National culture gallery of the House of National cohesion on June 22.

The Rahel Elran’s art was exhibited in France, Israel and the USA. The quilt artist got acquainted with Yakut art at the international festival “Russian patchworks” in the town of Ivanovo one year ago, and these traditional drawings impressed her.

«This is my first arrival to Yakutsk and I’m glad to be here. People from Yakutia are supposed to be the most hospitable in the world. I devoted 10 years to make my own art. Quilting requires high accuracy, precision and time. I hope you will highly appreciate this modern art», – Rakhel mentioned.

«We couldn’t believe as far back as one year ago that Rahel will arrive here but it happened. The quilting has not been developed yet in our republic but I suppose that her exhibition and workshops make this arte popular», – Yana Ignatieva, the director of the House of National cohesion, said in the conversation with the YSIA.

The exhibition is opened at the National culture gallery on June 22-26. Rahel Elran will give workshop lessons at 11 a.m on June 23.
