Yakutia’s 8 athletes to make a mark in Olympic Games in Rio

8 athletes from Yakutia will participate in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Four of them will attend Olympics, the others go to Paralympics. It was said by Yakutia’s Deputy Minister of Sports Georgy Balakshin.


These 4 athletes will compete for Olympic medals – woman runner Sardana Trofimova, boxer Vasily Egorov, freestyle wrestlers Victor Lebedev and Ayaal Lazarev, who stands for Kazakhstan. A silver medalist in shot put in 2012 Summer Olympics Evgeny Kolodko won’t take part in these Games.

Vladimir Balynec (powerlifting), Anastasia Diodorova (swimming), Stepanida Artahinova (archery) and Alena Dmitrieva (sitting volleyball) will uphold the honour of Russia in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games Programme.
