Yakutia’s mas wrestlers got 8 medals at European championship


Russian picked team in mas wrestling consisting mostly of Yakutia’s athletes captured almost all the gold medals in the European Championship this weekend in Georgia.

The team comprised of 24 athletes took part in the European Championship in Batumi. They’ve got 21 medals there: 10 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze ones.

“80 participants from 10 counties made a mark at the Championship. We’re very satisfied with results of our team. We’ve fulfiled a plan up to 90% and finished first in the gold count”, – the head coach of the Russian team Nicolay Konstantinov said.

The following athletes got the title: Yakutia – Evgeny Udin, Mikhail Kovalik, Semen Gotovcev, Egor Baishev, Vasily Alexeev, Anatoly Baishev, Sardana Osipova, Irina Sevruk, Kabardino Balkariya – Kristina Kochesokova, Sverdlovsk oblast – Svetlana Tikhonova.

Russian mas wrestlers have just missed the gold in the weight category of over 125 kilos. Heavyweight Sergei Frolkin (Tompon district, Yakutia) got the bronze, Zviad Kayala (Georgia) became a winner, Andrey Markin took the silver.
