Yakutian girls became volunteers of Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Five girls from Yakutia passed the rigorous candidate selection and became volunteers in Summer Olympics 2016 to be held on August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro.

The TV presenter Maria Zhirkova learned of the recruitment of volunteers to the Rio Olympics 2016 in Sochi. “Volunteers from Brazil did practical training in our Winter Olympics and advised me to check in the website of Games”, – Maria said.

She sent her application form, passed tests, had  a Skype interview and got an invitation letter to Rio in April.

Before that the girl took part in the Children of Asia International Sports Games 2016 as the team leader of a Moscow team. She is expected to be the volunteer in the Fonte Nova Arena in Brazil.

“It was a great pleasure for me to be recruited, and I’m very glad to be the part of this huge event. However, I’m scared and excited about it as many Russian athletes didn’t get a ticket to the Olympics”, – Maria shared her impressions.

Varvara Pavlova, the Maria’s friend and the graduate of the NEFU, also sent an application
request to Rio. Before that she was the team leader of the sports team from Greece and the volunteer in the International Championship in freestyle wrestling. She is expected to work in the Aquatics stadium this Summer Olympics.
