If Yakutian athletes achieve gold medals at the Olympic Games 2016, they will be rewarded from the Government with 6 million roubles and life-long month payments in the amount of 45 thousand roubles. Marina Zakharova, Yakutia’s Deputy Minister of Sports, said it to RIA Novosti.
“Yakutian Government decided to support possible winners and medalists at the Paralympic and Olympic Games. Gold medal achievers will get the life-long payment in an amount of 45 thousand roubles a month and the honorarium in an amount of 6 million roubles”, – Marina Zakharova said.
According to her, if Yakutian athletes win silver, they will get 4 million roubles and 36 thousand roubles a month, bronze – 3.2 million roubles and 27 thousand roubles a month. Those coaches who trained winners will be rewarded with 3 million roubles, silver medalists – 2 million, bronze ones – 1.6 million.
Just one Yakutian athlete, freestyle wrestler Victor Lebedev, was sent to compete at the Olympic Games in Rio. Four more athletes from the republic will fight for medals in Paralympics, if they get permittion to compete there: Vladimir Balynec, a silver prize winner at the London Paralympics 2012, Russia’s Merited Master of sports in powerlifting, Anastacia Diodorova, a silver medalist, a world and Europe champion, Merited Master of sports in swimming, Stepanida Artahinova, a bronze medalist in Paralympics 2012 in an individual event, a World-Class Master of sports and Russia’s Merited master of sports in archery, and Alena Dmitrieva, a Europe silver medalist in volleyball.
