Rio Olympic champion, Turkish freestyle wrestler Taha Akgul visited Yakutsk as an honored guest of the 9th International Tournament in freestyle wrestling in memory of Dmitry Korkin. Let us note that the athlete competed at this tournament before.
Olympic, World and European champion, Turkish freestyle wrestler competing in the 125 kg division Taha Akgul came to Yakutsk on 2 October. He participated in the 9th International tournament in freestyle wrestling in memory of Dmitry Korkin as an honored guest.
“Korkin’s tournament serves as a start for young wrestlers and give much international experience. Olympic champion Taha Akgul said that our tournament was a launch pad for his future achievements in freestyle wrestling. In acknowledgement of this, he came to Yakutsk as a honored guest”, – the Minister of Sports Mikhail Gulyaev noted.
Yakutia’s freestyle wrestlers Aiaal Lazarev and Leonid Spiridonov, a Chair of the Union of Constructors Aikhal Gabyshev met the champion in the airport.
Let us note that 138 athletes from 26 countries competed in the 9th International Tournament in freestyle wrestling in memory of Dmitry Korkin.
